Garessio-Limone Ski Tour
GARESSIO-LIMONE SKI TOUR
The ski traverse through the Ligurian Alps, an unknown but wonderful ski tour that touches the four main peaks of the area: Cima Ciuaiera, Monte Mongioie, Punta Marguareis, Cima della Fascia.
From the highest summits of this traverse it is often possible to have a view on the Ligurian Sea…..and you will seldom meet somebody.
The huts are nice but unattended in this season, so we shall have to bring food with us, at least for the first dinner and breakfast.
Program:
1st day:
we start from Colle di Casotto (1380m) to reach Monte Mussiglione (1900m); from here we ski down to rifugio Manolino (1638m) then up again with the skins and crampons in the north-east couloir of Cima Ciuaiera (2175m); from here down to Colla dei Termini (2006m); along a wide ridge the Colletto del Pizzo d’Ormea is reached. Down again and with a last uphill walk we arrive to Cavarero bivouac (2200m).
2nd day:
ascent to Colletto Revelli (2309m), downhill toward lago della Raschera (about 2000m), from here to Monte Mongioie (2.630m); we ski down to rifugio Mondovì (1761m)and then uphill again through Biecai up to Porta Sestrera (2225m); a last descent leads to rifugio Garelli (1970m).
3rd day:
We climb Torinesi couloir to reach the highest summit of Ligurian Alps: Punta Marguareis (2650m); from Punta Marguareis we ski down to Capanna Morgantini (2227m). The last ascent with the skins is to Cima della Fascia (2451m), then the long descent through Vallone del Cros and the arrival to Limone Piemonte (1100m).
Best time to go: March and April, sometimes possible in May too.
Equipment: standard ski mountaineering equipment, ice axe, crampons and harness. Huts are equipped with blankets, but a light sleeping bag or a sheet would be advisable.
Price includes: three days with the mountain guide, party equipment, individual equipment if necessary, food for two dinners and two breakfasts in the huts.
Price: 220€ for each person with a minimum group of three people.
